mobile phones now have movie camera options and applications, i don't think we even need to be concerned about technical limitations, people can cobble together all sorts of stuff, the idea is not to make a slick looking professional doco but one made by people who just love this band. the internet is a perfect tool for this type of project. all we really need is some sort of plan to where submissions are sent. and then the excerpts can be assembled into context. i think the idea of being kinda home made is appealing, obviously those with access to better technology will present more professional segments but it's just intent that really counts. it may actually just be great visually that quality changes from one section to the other. i'm happy to co-ordinate this and put it together if no one else wants to.

I agree
this will open up a much broader range of contributions
variety is a big part of the story so it should show through in as many aspects as possible
I'm still in favour of some sort of loose topics or themes. Even if these are wholly optional, they might help some people (like me!) make a start. I also think they will be helpful when it comes to the editing stage (which will be all the more challenging with a greater variety of media).
As long as it is all in some sort of digital format, it shouldn’t be too difficult. I uh…I think :-)
How about we start brainstorming some loose topics?
Maybe that will help get us all started?
I read your comment in TTB Richard. Don’t despair I think more will come on board once it’s up and running.
It may take a bit of time; getting through the inertia is the hardest part.
Hi Richard and fellow Churchites! I'd love to contribute to this project. I think the idea of having set questions for all the fans to answer in their own unique way would be have a better end result than all us just making individual mini-docs. That way we could have more people, more footage, keep each topic short and interesting. Ive seen docs done this way, it's hard to explain here in a comments box!
Here's one idea: Wouldnt it be great if we could somehow get the list of questions together in time for the US tour, and get someone who has access to the band members (and with a video camera), film each of the Church boys asking the questions? For example, I'm sure the lovely and efficient Eek could get backstage passes from Steve and she could do it for us? And I'm sure the Fab 4 would be kind enough to do take part!!! Just a thought :)
a questionairre:pyramids.the song of you're life, done by the church,at the tip.the lyrics you asssociate with n more than likely its cleverness, and poiniance in you're life, next level, the music, and your favourite part of the song,or you're favourite mechanism of the song.what it does to you're senses, and where it takes you.the visuals you have of the song,in your head, when you hear it.the song's colour.n then your occupation.and your view of utopia for the world the universe and everything, being that our "general age"may be close to 42!;)
Iseult and i had planned to video the guys backstage in Sydney but it got quite chaotic and we had to spend time setting up cameras for the gig, organise passes etc, pick up Marty's ginger beer LOL It can be a difficult thing to do in the time and very distracting when SK decides to do yoga half naked nearby! :) And sometimes it just feels too intrusive, you have to pick your moment. Its not impossible tho' if you plan ahead and ask permission to do. Touring is unpredictable but spontaneity is the key, even a few seconds captured can become film magic. PV will also be filming a few gigs again and Tiare's also going to film some behind stage footage (for their own dvd). Maybe some of ours can go on some of theirs and vice-versa. I teach film to kids but Im not too good on the scripting. Like Amanda said, a script guide is a must for anyone who needs a beginning. Storyboarding is key for budding moviemakers. But once you have that then you can adlib & wing it.
