an idea

idea, a whole bunch of people independently put together a small piece of film, say 7 mins. in that time they can talk about whatever they want as long as it relates to the church. each person is responsible for their own bit and therefore keeps the work democratic. when submitted they can be put together in some sort of coordinated way. the final result would be a dvd about a band made by the fans. i think it's an original and worthwhile idea.

yep, that's pretty much what I have in mind

it's the co-ordinating that's going to be the challenge

I suppose that's why I'm inclined towards some wide open (and democratically elected!) topics

I really am talking VERY wide - but perhaps not so wide as simply 'the church'

my worry if we went that way is that we could get to the final stage with lots of pieces that can only be put together, if at all, sequentially

I agree that we need some sort of framework/ storyboard or whatever or else we run the risk of being all over the place and ending up with twenty or so mini-docs that don’t really integrate very well.

Hi Freddie

'twenty or so' seems the number doesn't it?

I don't think they have to "integrate" as such ( tho I can understand that too )

Even if it jumps around somewhat that would keep it interesting for the viewer. If one sequence is not to their liking, hey, in a inute something else will take its place. It doesnt have to flow like a regular film with a story/ narrative.
